a Corporate Patent Attorney to our Patent Department. The Patent Department contributes to the maintenance and strengthening of the Höganäs Group's leading position as a provider of solutions to the industry. 

We are looking for you

who have as a minimum a master´s degree, within technology/science and 5 years of experience from working as a Patent Attorney. Experience from a position as a consultant or from an in-house position is valuable to us. Preferably you are a qualified European Patent Attorney, or you are partly qualified with the ambition to qualify. We believe you have a background in material science, metallurgy, chemical/mechanical engineering or related fields. You possess good communication skills, both oral and written, in English and in a Scandinavian language. 

You are passionate about IP and creating value for the business. You are proactive and have a positive, co-operative can-do mindset with the ability to build strong relationships. Further, you are curious, analytical, persistent, accurate and flexible with the ability to drive decisions and IP-related projects.

About the position

The position is located at Höganäs AB in Höganäs in Sweden. As a Corporate Patent Attorney you are part of the Patent Department consisting of three people (the Head of IP, an IP Coordinator and the Corporate Patent Attorney) and report to the Head of IP. You support R&D and Product Areas across the organization. The position offers challenging and various tasks with a significant degree of responsibility and autonomy for the experienced Patent Attorney.

You are responsible for all aspects of maintaining and developing the patent portfolio belonging to one or more Product Areas. The work includes the responsibility of aligning the patent portfolios with respect to business plans and continuing the work of building a strategically relevant international patent portfolio within your areas of responsibility. In doing so your tasks will include identifying patentable inventions and analyzing strategical relevance of new ideas as well as drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of jurisdictions. Another key area is the important task of ensuring insight into the activities of known and upcoming competitors through the ongoing work with third party surveillance.

As a Corporate Patent Attorney you are responsible for driving the process of ensuring the right and timely decisions regarding IP questions in close collaboration with stakeholders from key areas in the organization such as product development, sales and regional offices.

The position also includes the responsibility for supporting the organization by carrying out patent landscaping in order to provide both technical and business relevant information to R&D and decision-makers within your Product Areas. You will also perform Freedom to Operate (FTO) analysis, give opinions on validity, compile arguments for opposition and invalidation procedures, perform training for coworkers in IP related matters and participate in the ongoing work of improving our ways of working within the department and in relation to the rest of the organization. The position offers a global working environment with dedicated, forthcoming and professional colleagues.
