LEAD DESIGNER



At Tillberg Design of Sweden (part of Viken Group), your ideas and concepts develop into designs that will be experienced onboard cruises & yachts all over the world. Person in the role of Lead Designer will be responsible for leading design solutions for either luxury or commercial sectors: Cruise-ship, Cruise-yacht.

The role of Lead Designer includes tasks as:
· To lead concept designs
· To manage and inspire the design team
· Leading the development of design intent and liaising with PM to see the vision through completion
· Visuals / CGI development and control
· Overseeing and producing drawings to “design intent” level
· Responsibility for the holistic design overview of a project
· Design decision making
· Client liaison
· Presentations of design concept and Storytelling

Requirements:
+10 years of experience in the field
Track record of success with leading teams and projects
Degree in Interior Design or equivalent
Industry knowledge: trends, details, materials, brands
Codes & Regulations – Marine and shipbuilding related
Proficiency in English
Creativity & design complexity
Mentoring ability
Preferred knowledge of tools such as: Rhino, Archicad, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, AI
Confidence in public speaking, presenting

For this position, we are open for many different types of backgrounds: what will stand out is your experience with creating attractive selling 3D assets. Strong merits include a network within the visuals creation community, experience from visual creation and animations.

This role as visual artist focuses on:
• Collaborate closely with Interior & exterior designer
• Create visuals and other 3D assets such as animation, fly throughs, walk through etc.
• Briefing and cooperation with external visual artists.

The perfect candidate can be described with:
• Degree in either architecture / interior architecture / product design/visual effects
• +5 years of experience working with 3D visualizations and animations and within those +2 years of experience within the interior and architecture 3D visualizations
• Great insight into the 3D visual creation and animation business including being up to date within the latest within the field in terms of software, technology and integration like AI
• Having a friendly approach, and being a team player
• Knowledge and interest of future technologies like AI and new design tools

Requirements:
• Excellent English language, spoken and in writing
• Good communication skills
• Visual creation skills for still pictures and movies / animations
• Understanding drawings and materials
• Understanding light settings and ambiance
• Picture creation, selecting selling and interesting angles
• Great skills with Realtime Engine
• Knowledge in 3Ds Max
• 3D Rhinoceros modeling skills or similar
• V-ray plugin or similar
• Adobe Photoshop, post production editing skills
• Creation of movies in Adobe Premiere Pro or final cut Pro, or similar
• Office 365.

Job Overview
Tillberg Design of Sweden, TDoS, has over 50 years of experience creating luxury dreamscapes travelling the seas of the world. We bring together interior architecture, design, signage and branding. TDoS is now seeking a Chief Design Officer, CDO, to lead our experienced cruise design studios and teams into the future, ensuring that our design continues outperforming our clients' visions.


Key responsibilities for our CDO
• Understand and translate our clients' needs and briefs to creative design excellence
• Lead the entire design process, from high-level design concepts to project completion
• Supervise and sign off high-quality design crafted on time and within budget
• Share the design ideas with clients, employing storyboards, mockups, 3d models and other elements for visualizing our design concepts
• Secure solid collaboration with other TDoS departments to ensure that our design meets the business needs
• Provide leadership and direction for our cruise design studio professionals
• Develop and mentor our designers to ensure high-quality design team
• Be part of the TDoS management Team


Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in interior architecture, interior design, or a related field
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in design work including experience of leading and mentoring creative teams. Experience from more than one company is desireable.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and inspire a team of designers
• Charismatic, inspiring, coaching with amazing social skills. Key to get the team of designers with you.
• Experience with 3D modelling software such as Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SketchUp is good but not a must
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Passion for design, and a commitment to staying up to date with the latest trends and innovations
